Does this describe your student?
They don't know how to write, and you're not sure how to help them get started.
They love to write, but you're not sure how to help them improve.
They become frustrated when writing, and you want to encourage them.
Then this is the course for you!
In this course, students will learn and practice the writing process as they brainstorm, write, and revise their work to make it the best it can be. Through short assignments – only one or two paragraphs long – students will create their own dynamic descriptions while learning skills they can apply to any form of writing.
We'll cover the writing process, brain storming, how to write a paragraph, how to choose descriptive words, and how to revise your rough draft.
We'll reveiw everything in Unit 1. We'll also cover watching for repeated words, and using synonyms.
We'll review everything in Units 1 and 2. We'll also cover action vs. being verbs. New topics covered include: Using Metaphors and Similes, Using Different Types of Sentence Structures
We'll review everything in in Units 1, 2, and 3. We'll also cover using metaphors and similes and different types of sentence structures.
We'll review everything in Units 1, 2, 3, and 4. We'll also cover first person and third person point of view, interviewing a friend or family member, and writing a personal narrative.
This is the week where everything comes together! Upon completion, students will receive a certificate to download and print.
The course consists of 6 units with 5 lessons in each. So if you are following a traditional school schedule, students can complete one lesson/day Monday through Friday for 6 weeks. However, you can adjust this schedule to fit your needs.
I know that sometimes life happens, and your student may need to take a week (or more) off. Or, they may progress a little more slowly through a lesson to insure understanding. That's fine -- your student can complete the course at their own pace. I will be available to help for up to six months after you purchase the course.
1. As soon as you sign up for Dynamic Descriptions, you'll have access to the course. There are 6 units with each unit divided into 5 lessons, one for each weekday, but you can adjust it to fit your schedule. Be sure to read through the lessons with your student to be sure they understand the assignments.
2. Each week, students will follow the writing process of: brainstorming, writing a first (or rough) draft, writing a first revision, receiving a personal critique, and then writing a final draft. Each assignment consists of one or two paragraphs.
3. Upon completion of the first revision, the student will share the assignment with me via email.
4. Within 1-2 days, I'll return the assignment with corrections and suggestions for improvement.
5. The student will revise their writing and submit it one more time (final draft) for the assignment to be considered “complete”.
6. Students can then move on to the next week's lessons.
7. After the student has finished all six assignments, they will receive a certificate of completion.
* 6 Weeks
* 30 Lessons
* 6 Personal Critiques
I'm confident your student's writing will improve with this course, but I want you to be confident, too! If you aren't satisfied, you can receive a full refund if you cancel within 14 days. This will give your student time to try the first lesson, send it in, and receive feedback. After the second lesson is delivered, no refunds are available.

My name is Samantha Bell, and I’m a writing and art teacher, children’s book writer and illustrator, a veteran homeschooling parent (20 years!), and mom of four great kids (now ages 18-26). And I would love to encourage your student with their own writing journey!
Although I always enjoyed writing, I didn't start to get serious about it until after I graduated from college. I published my first article in an online magazine in 2004 and illustrated my first picture book in 2009. I’ve been working on some sort of book ever since, including picture books and nonfiction books for the educational market. My teaching experience includes creative writing and art classes at homeschooling co-ops, as well as lessons and workshops at schools, libraries, conferences, and writer’s groups. You can find my books on SamanthaBellBooks.com and my free art lessons on ArtStartsForKids.com.
